Battle of Ogdensburg (NY) | War of 1812 Battle Re-enactment

February 24, 2018

“Cannon and musket fire will mark the Battle of Ogdensburg Reenactment on February 24-25, 2018 at the former site of Fort De La Peesentation in Ogdensburg, New York. Sponsored by Forsythe’s Rifles, Prescott and Ogdensburg will commemorate the War of 1812 Battle of Ogdensburg with activities in both communities over the weekend. This will be an expanded re-enactment, as thrilling as the original battle, only safer. On Saturday afternoon, the Battle of Ogdensburg Reenactment will take place along the streets, following a similar route of the Anglo-Canadian army in 1813 as it fought toward the fort on Lighthouse Point.” – Forsyth’s Rifles Inc.

“The Battle of Ogdensburg, on 22 February 1813, was a British victory over American forces in the War of 1812. The upper St Lawrence River, a 317-kilometre stretch of majestic waterway from Montréal to Kingston, was the only means to sustain the British and Canadian presence in Upper Canada. If this route were severed, the Americans could cut off forces in Upper Canada…” Historica Canada
